LOS ANGELES, June 13, 2017 – Hillsides, a Southern California foster care charity, has been approved as an Association of Social Work Boards Approved Continuing Education (ACE) provider. The approval shows that Hillsides has met rigorous standards and demonstrated the ability to offer high-quality continuing education activities to licensed clinical social workers and licensed marriage and family therapists.  The approval process was rigorous, taking nine months.

All licensed clinical social workers and marriage and family therapists must complete a certain amount of continuing education hours, such as diversity and substance abuse training, in order to maintain their licenses.  This new designation by the Association of Social Work Boards will make life easier for Hillsides’ some 70 therapists and social workers.

“Instead of having to go outside the agency to receive the training, our licensed staff can now get credit for the training they do at Hillsides,” explains Hillsides Director of Training Samira Vishria.

The Association of Social Work Boards is a nonprofit organization composed of and owned by the social work regulatory boards and colleges in the United States and Canada.  It owns and maintains the social work licensing examinations that are used to test a social worker’s competence to practice ethically and safely.
